belmar st patrick s day parade

elebrating St. Patrick's Parade Day:

St. Patrick's Parade day begins 12:30 pm Sunday in Belmare.
In 1974, marchers for the first time gathered here in honor of Saint Patrick of Ireland. Formed and led by the then-newly formed Jerry Lynch Club, the parade is now the largest in the state, organizers say.

The parade route goes along Main Street from Lake Como north to Belmar.
Church goers reflected on Irish history and remembered members of the Ancient Order and Ladies Ancient Order of the Hiberians who died this past year.

It’s a bright, sunny day for the 43rd annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Parade-goers say they're glad the weather held up this year.

The grand marshal this year is Charles Flynn of Wall; the deputy grand marshal is Janet McGrath of Belmar.

The 2010 St. Patrick's Day Queen and court also have been announced: Queen Samantha Misner-Bianchi, 16, of Neptune City; first runner-up Farrah Smoke, 18, of Belmar; second runner-up Veronica Hindes, 17, of Jackson; third runner-up Bridgette O'Donnell, 16, of Manchester; and fourth runner-up Juliann Knight, 20, of Toms River.

On March 6, the annual Investiture Mass will be held at St. Rose Church. The service is at 10 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following at Doolan's, Route 71, Spring Lake Heights. The luncheon price is $30.
