Wakefield inspires female Japanese pitcher
FORT MYERS, Fla. - There has been a Japanese girl drawing odd stares at Red Sox camp from players who were oblivious to who she was or why she was there.
But Tim Wakefield knew exactly why Eri Yoshida came to Florida.
Yoshida, an 18 year-old professional pitcher from Japan who learned how to throw a knuckle-ball from watching video of Wakefield, came all the way to Fort Myers to meet her distant teacher. Oh, and did I mention that Yoshida is a woman? (Redsox.com)
